Scrivere in Jazz is an International jazz composition and arrangement contest, held in Sassari (Sardinia – Italy) every other year. Conceived and created by the Blue Note Orchestra Association in 1991, it gives composers of any artistic background and geographical origin the opportunity to deal with the composition of pieces and arrangements for an instrumental ensemble of 18 elements, the Jazz Orchestra of Sardinia.
This coming edition is the 17th and I am very happy to be one of the three composers selected for the final round of the section A (original tunes inspired by the Tasgia, a musical form belonging to the Sardinian tradition). The Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna will perform all the selected compositions live in Sassari on September 8, and announce the winners the next night after the gala concert featuring the special guest of 2022 edition: Italian woodwind player Gianluigi Trovesi.
